Important training information from Umpires Director Mark Westgarth
This week Leigh has arranged a boundary umpires coaching session to be held after training at Scovell Reserve on Wednesday night and this will be repeated at Saltwater Reserve on Thursday night. There is NO skills session on Thursday night, as per the Season Planner, due to ground availability; normal training at Saltwater on the Thursday with the boundary coaching session to follow training.
On Wednesday night for those at training we will be doing a 2km time trial and this will be repeated at Saltwater on Thursday night. This is an opportunity for every umpire to show how they have improved in their fitness since the last time trial prior to the start of the season. This is about how you personally have gone about your training. We have a number of umpires who have been injured etc. so don’t stress about the time trial, we as coaches know how you are travelling so just continue to put your best foot forward.
Next week leads into the long weekend and NO WRFL ‘normal’ football is scheduled. All the junior inter-league games are occurring, and in that, if Rene has appointed you to a game then we expect you to meet that appointment and represent the WRFL umpires group with pride.
There is NO official training next week, leading into the long weekend, it is a free training week, so if you wish to have a run at the various training venues you are more than welcome, however neither Dean or myself will be taking training, it is designed to allow all umpires to have break in readiness for the second half of the season.
Run on!
